About Third Runway Catering

Navos Mental Health Services provides support and education to the most vulnerable people living with serious mental illness. We are treating our children, providing homes for our homeless, helping people find jobs, giving people new skills through training and changing the way mental healthcare is delivered.

Navos also operates a cafe situated next to the third runway at SeaTac Airport, between Tacoma and Seattle, Washington. From here catering opportunities sprout, utilizing people from the onsite traininer program, to prepare and serve meals. Our mission is to help as many underserved mental health patients gain new food services skills, and then help them to find gainful employment. We do this through training in the classroom and through workplace experience in catered events.

Over the past year, 29 people served through Navos’ Employment Services have secured competitive part-time or full-time employment at Navos or in the community; two additional clients started work in early December (one began his first job ever), bringing the total now to 31.  Eight of these individuals had been assessed, trained and/or worked in Navos’ cafés; seven had been assessed or trained in other locations at Navos or in the community that more closely matched their interests.

People with mental illness can transcend their symptoms and lead fulfilling lives. At Navos, clients are empowered to create an individualized plan to develop the skills, tools, and support they need to recover and reconnect with purpose.

Recovery is the goal

Support and education is provided by a range of evidence-based programs and services, including outpatient services, residential and community housing, employment services and several new and nationally recognized programs that are challenging the way mental health treatment is delivered.
